Now Showing at "The Palais"

Movie Clip Wednesday continues to be hosted by The Mad Man

and this weeks theme for July 28th 2020 is...
probably best described in his own words..

"Here's the theme and it's for the ladies...
and I hope I can explain it well enough (sorry Buzz, don't hate me because I'm beautiful).
Pick the romantic comedy you would like to have starred in and why.
Maybe it's not your favorite but it has the actor/Diane Lane actress you most want to smooch."

So many men...so little time...

A selection of the men Princess would lick like to pucker up to in a funny romantic way...

But I'd have loved a role in this...

Happy MCW.

The Trouble with Russell....

Hello again Dhaaarlings...

Do you like Gladiator Movies ?....

Princess did..until Dhaarling Russell put paid to that fantasy for me...

In his Epic Movie 'Gladiator'

So I called him....

'Russell' I said...

'What happened Dharling? Your acting usually enthralls me to the point where I'm hanging on your every word and at the edge of my seat waiting for your next scene...

But in this role there is something very very wrong Dharling...

You know that I am your biggest fan Dhaarling...

No... I'm the other one Dhaarling...remember me?

Yes... that's right Dhaarling... Princess...

Oooh Russell... *giggling* you do remember me Dhaarling...

 But Dhaaarling... about this movie...
It just completely fails to grab my attention...

No Dhaarling.... as much as I would love to be pulling on your leg...
I am serious Dhaarling...

You may find this odd... but I have attempted to watch it on no less than 5 seperate occasions Dhaarling...
And I am yet to get past the first few scenes without nodding off...
and then I awake to this beautiful piece of music...

The piece with you rubbing your perfect hand through the wheat field Dharrling...
Yes that's the one... right before the closing credits!

I know Dhaarling... it is most unusual...
But that piece of music is...well.. just  Divine...so moving... so  haunting... simply wonderful Dhaaarling...

Now Russell Dhaarling... I've called you... as I was wondering if you could do me a little favour?...

Yes Dhaarling.. a favour... for Princess...

Well Dhaarling...
I wondered if it would be too much trouble for you to possibly pop back into the movie and change a few of the scenes for me...

Yes really Dhaarling...

I'm serious Dhaarling... well just a couple of scenes Dhaarling...

Well I thought that some of the early scenes could be made a little more  well let's face it... exciting...

So that they might grab my attention a little more... perhaps you could experiment by wearing a little less clothing?...

Don't be such a prude Dhaarling...
What is wrong with riding a steed into battle straddled naked upon its back?...
It would...I think... add a sense of historic realism Dhaarling...

Oh... Oh Dhaarling...  I'm sorry to hear that your nuts were almost crushed under that skirt...

But Dhaarling... I just thought that a little bit of costume tweaking from you might capture my intrigue and help me to stay awake past the bit where you get picked up by those lusty slave traders...

What do you mean "Fuck off Princess?"...
Oh...Sorry Dhaarling...
I didn't realise that your boys were playing today...

Yes Dhaarling... Go the Rabbitohs...
Well Dhaarling...I'll let you get back to the match...
But do give it some thought... won't you Dhaarling?...
In the meantime I'll try to get through your movie one more time... but i'm sure that I'll just be waking up to this again"...

Thank goodness for beautiful music...Dhaarlings.

Now Showing at "The Palais"

Hello Dhaaarlings...

Movie Clip Wednesday continues to be hosted by The Mad Man
and this weeks theme for July 21 2020 is...

Worst Movie Ending

When I first heard the title of this cinematic wonder I thought it was about

Artificial Insemination Not Artificial Intelligence
(what an Oxymoron)

Well here's the trick...It should have been...It would have been far more enlightening and entertaining

This ahem..."Movie".. was one of Spielbergs (in my opinion) Worst Ever Movies
Let alone the soppy storyline and crappy feelgood ending.

I say leave the cutesy little robot and talking teddy friend buried forever...

It would have been a far more believable end than to jump forward to

"Silicon Based Life Forms" inheriting the earth!

See what all those Breast Implants evolved into...

What about a future world of giant bacteria that evolved from all that Botoxing?...

Just makes you think...

Anyway here are three Clips that I have found for your enjoyment...
Go on...Knock yourself out..

Kubrick would be turning in his grave...Tho on second thoughts he may well have had them all wearing blindfolds....

Yeh...Right!

Happy MCW Dhaarlings...

I'm off to find something entertaining to watch....

Now Showing at "The Palais"

It's Movie Clip Wednesday and the theme for the 14th July 2010 is...

 "Best/Favorite Movie Theme Song"

Milk River Madman  is continuing to host MCW in place of Boxer who remains on an extended hosting break from the task.

MRM set one stipulation for this weeks theme as a result I believe of a repetitive Childhood trauma...

I Quote the Following...

"I am going to ban "Gonna Fly Now (Rocky's Theme)" because at the state wrestling tournament when I was a junior they played it at the awards presentation for every weight class. Soured me on the song so its banned. Anything other theme song is fair game."
Milk River Madman

So Folks...No "Rocky's Theme"
(It was a crap theme anyway)

This was an extremely difficult task this week as I just love music of any genre and particularly music used in movies.

I don't profess to be an aficionado as I can rarely tell you the name of the song/theme, the writer/composer or even the artist that made the tune a hit.

But I sometimes get the movie that it came from right.

The following piece of music never fails to uplift my spirits

I don't know when or where I was when I first listened to it
But the initial feelings of happiness and wellbeing have stayed with me and continue to bring about these feelings even now while listening to it again.

And... it comes from a movie that I have never actually seen!

You can watch the trailer for the movie HERE

But it is funny how music sticks in your brain and that you can recognise having heard it before...
But be unaware of its origin until you start searching.

Happy MCW!
And if you have the time there are more themes that came to mind

Here

And

The Party's Over....

Hello Dhaaarlings....

In case you hadn't noticed how Quiet it has suddenly become...

It's because...

'The World Game'.. Sadly.. is over ....

In the team event...

The Netherlands ...
despite their wonderful colour coordination and exuberance for team spirit...

Their Competition Tune Playing was unfortunately....
not up to the high standard which the Judges have come to expect of competitors particularly in the final Play-off.

Disappointing for some...
Was the Frequent raising of yellow score cards...
To individual players that rudely miss timed their attack note and...
in one instance the player was awarded a red card and sent off stage...
 for a rather innappropriate blow...

The opposing team Spain...
tho not as colourfully coordinated in their attire but...
 just as enthusuastic
in there team comerardrie

Seemed to impress the judges...
demonstrating a high degree of technical ability...
and propensity to maintain the rhythm and flow of their set pieces.

Yellow score cards were also held up for individuals that blew foul notes.

It was not until the last few bars of the score that...
 Spain...
eventually found their timing again and finished with a marvelous crescendo...

leaving both the Spanish Players and the audience alike.. jumping and celebrating with glee.

The  Netherlands Team...
obviously distraught from their initially over exuberant play...
 lay exhausted on the stage...

some so overcome by the sheer joy of emotion...

for the other Teams' late... winning play....

were seen to be weeping.

Infortunately...

I did not happen to see many of the individual contestants...
In the Solo Category....

But believe that the competition was open to all Ages and Playing styles

 as shown pictorially below..

I've had such a wonderful time at this event.

It has been lovely to see the world united over such a very unique and highly entertaining musical instrument.

And I can't wait for the next competition to come around again in four years time...

But now that it is over I really think that these chappy's will be delighted to be reunited with their beloved Horns..

Don't You?

Princess Plummets....

Hello Dhaaarlings...

While Princess sits here thinking...

 and reading...

 All about your "Summer Adventures"

What with all those pool party's...

Poncing...

And Posing going on...

Princess has to admit to a tinge of jealousy

Spare a thought for me won't you as I toil away....

In the cold

creating some lovely...

Warm...

Garments....

To help chase away those...

Bleak winter Blues...

Having said that...
I think It's time to put my feet up by the fire...

In an attempt to stay warm!

Enjoy your Summer now won't you?

Now Showing at "The Palais"

It's July and Milk River Madman is still hosting Movie Clip Wednesday for Boxer while she continues with a well earned hosting break...
The theme for this week 7th July 2010 is...

"Favourite 70's Actress"
This was an astonishingly easy choice for me for a change I must say...

Either that, or I just wasn't into too many female actresses in the seventies...

Fancy that?...
Oh... apart from Ann Margaret in Tommy...I always wanted a white ermine bedcoat, minus the beans and chocolate...

But I digress... The first and only actress apart from Ann that came to mind was Louise Fletcher in her oscar winning role of "Nurse Ratched" in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" alongside "Jack Nicholson"

This role must have made an impact on me as after leaving school and several boring jobs I became a Psychiatric Nurse.
A career which lasted 20 years. And one that I nolonger practice
(But that is a whole other story)
I vowed never to be as rigid and controlling as the character portrayed in this movie by Louise, tho throughout my career I met many many like her.

As I said... of all the movies in the 70's this one stuck and I have been a fan of hers ever since and it is always a surprise to see he pop up in a role
when I least expect her to.

So there you go... Dhaarlings

Happy MCW.
